BMW’s “Hand Of God” System Should Worry Tesla

Since day one, Tesla has dominated the performance EV market. Sure, you can buy faster EVs, such as the Rimac Nevera or the McMurtry Speirling, but these electric hypercars cost tens of times more than the most expensive Tesla. Today, many manufacturers have caught up with or even overtaken Tesla’s charge times, range, and even price, but almost none can deliver such an excellent performance-to-price ratio. However, BMW has taken inspiration from its long history at the forefront of motorsport to create the “Hand of God” system that challenges this status quo.

Before we dive into BMW, let’s first look at what makes Tesla’s performance cars great and where their weaknesses lie. If you have ever looked at a Tesla spec sheet, you will find that even the slowest model has better acceleration than the highest-performance combustion vehicles. In fact, the $54k Tesla Model 3 Performance can squirt from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, only a hair quicker than the insanely fast $101k Porsche Cayman GT4 at 3.9 seconds. Just to remind you, the GT4 is considered one of the best performance cars currently available for sale.
