Humanity is currently standing on a precipice. If we don’t act fast, climate change will cause untold destruction, unrest, upheaval, extinction, and even human death. We have just enough time to prevent this horrific future from becoming reality, but we must be quick and roll out climate technology, such as renewables, as fast as possible. Reassuringly, a recent report by the IEA suggests that this renewable energy revolution is happening at a lightning pace and is in the process of making a big difference. But look a little closer, and you will find something worrying.

To begin with, this report states that wind and solar power are set to account for over 90% of global electricity expansion over the next five years. This expansion will mean renewables will overtake coal as the leading energy source by 2025! This is a significant win for the renewable sector and demonstrates just how far their energy revolution has come.

According to the report, this expansion will nearly double global renewable capacity. This is a 30% increase over last year’s predictions for renewable energy in 2027.

That is incredible! But let’s quantify this.
