After undergoing talks with China’s President Xi Jinping at the Kremlin, Putin told reporters, “The United Kingdom announced not only the supply of tanks to Ukraine but also shells with depleted uranium. If this happens, Russia will be forced to react.” He then went on to say, “Russia will have to respond accordingly, given that the West collectively is already beginning to use weapons with a nuclear component.” It almost sounds like the UK is supplying Ukraine with nuclear weapons, furthering the increasingly horrific nuclear tensions over Russia’s invasion. But when you dig a little deeper, you find this is far from the truth. In fact, the UK is giving Ukraine something far better than a nuclear weapon, and Putin’s suggestive comments are a symptom of his utter terror.

The West is continuing to arm Ukraine. Poland and Slovakia are giving them fighter jets; Poland is sending them Leopard 2 tanks; America is sending them Abrams tanks; and the UK is sending a whole battalion of Challenger 2 tanks. Equipped with this new arsenal, Ukraine stands a fighting chance of successfully pushing back Putin’s barbaric forces. But the UK’s Challenger tanks are coming with special ammunition: depleted uranium shells.
